"Like An Arrow"

H 45" x W 35" x D 5"

(Cotton, nylon veil, organza, lace; painting, cutting-out, assemblage)

The antique Greek statue of Diana, goddess of the hunt, always wore a short tunic in order to keep her legs free during the hunting chase. The work has 3 layers. The back layer shows the ancient symbol of the triskelion, which has 3 legs. On the left and right sides, running down, are film strips that are meant to evoke motion and speed. The top two layers are placed close to each other in order to give an effect of restless moiré in the midst of falling arrows. The whole assemblage evokes the idea of intense activity.
