"Marching On"

H 9' x W 7' x D 3'6"

(Sheer fabric and mixed-media; painting, heat transfers; hanging from a metal grid above)

This piece dramatizes the unstoppable march of populations through time and the never-ending cycles of history. I use classical togas, modern t-shirts and androgynous masks in order to explore the layering and blending of ancient and modern history, and ultimately the permanence of humankind.

(Exhibited in the 12th International Triennial of Tapestry, Central Museum of Textiles. Lodz, Poland.)

(Now in the Permanent Collection of the Oakland Museum of California).
