| "Super Ego"
H 85" x W 48" x D 48" (2001) (Organza, plastic, paper, dried plants; heat transfers, painting, assemblage) The metaphor of "the fabric of life" is demonstrated by its textile implications. If life "unrolls" from beginning to end, so too does the industrial bolt of fabric. There is a repetition of patterns in both cases, but here the images grow in size, just as life develops from tiny embryo, to small body, to full-size person, and then is cut off in the middle at death. Life also evolves from the material and aspires to the spiritual. |
